Horse racing attractions such as Keeneland and the Red Mile bring many visitors to the area.

Home to the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Lexington Legends, hometown fans have much to cheer for. In addition to the University of Kentucky, other institutions of higher education include Berea College, Centre College, Asbury College, Georgetown College, and Transylvania University. Lexington supports the Children's Theater, Lexington Arts & Cultural Council and the Lexington Opera House. This exciting city also boasts great shopping and dining.

Lexington will be the site for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the first time the international equestrian event has been held outside of Europe.
